Nuremberg (AP) - Germany's national ice hockey team has also lost the third preparatory game for the World Cup in Riga.

The selection of the German Ice Hockey Federation was defeated by the Czech Republic 1: 4 (0: 0, 1: 2, 0: 2) in Nuremberg.

Although the committed German team, which was still weakened, put a lot of pressure, especially in the final third, it was only enough to score an outnumbered goal from Augsburg's Simon Sezemsky (38th minute).

Matej Blümel (28th) and Lukas Radil (33rd) met after a mistake by Cologne's Colin Ugbekile in the build-up game for the Czechs, who were also not yet in the best lineup.

Radil (59th) and Ondrej Beranek (60th) finally made the decision when national coach Toni Söderholm removed goalkeeper Niklas Treutle in favor of another outfield player.

In the DEB team, top talent John-Jason Peterka from EHC Red Bull Munich made a good match on his international debut.

For the first time, Söderholm was able to count on the defensive veterans Moritz Müller (Kölner Haie) and ex-NHL professional Korbinian Holzer (motorist Yekaterinburg) in preparation for the World Cup.

On the other hand, Maximilian Kastner from Munich was still missing.

Despite some of the best opportunities, Germany had a lot of bad luck in the final on Thursday.

The first World Cup tests had the DEB selection in the previous week with an even less experienced squad in Slovakia just lost 3: 4 after penalty shootouts and 1: 2.

On May 1st, Germany will play again against the Czech Republic in Nuremberg (1.30 p.m. / MagentaSport).

In the coming weeks, more players could join the team after the semi-finals in the DEL playoffs, which will then also play twice against Belarus (May 7th and 8th) in Nuremberg.

The World Cup in Riga begins on May 21st, when the first German opponent is Italy as an outsider.
