On April 26, the Kalmar County Region issued stricter regional recommendations which mean that you should not spend time with anyone outside your own household.

This means that you should not participate in events such as dinners, parties, indoor training or other sports events.

These recommendations are currently valid until 16 May.

However, sports, leisure and cultural activities for children are excluded, as exercise for children and young people is considered important for public health and is a priority activity even during the pandemic.

The region says no to matches and competitions

On Thursday, infection control doctor Lisa Labbé Sandelin will issue a letter in which she clarifies how the Kalmar County Region views the Public Health Agency's decision to allow children and young people born in 2002 or later to carry out individual matches and competitions outdoors.

The region encourages children and young people in these cohorts not to participate in matches or competitions.

Sports associations are asked to refrain from organizing or participating in these.

This call is valid as long as the regional recommendations are ongoing.

Municipalities and associations are also asked to keep their sports facilities open only to children and young people born in 2002 or later.

Lisa Labbé Sandelin believes that matches and competitions involve an increased risk of infection spreading compared to regular training.

At these events, children from different teams are mixed, there is a risk that children and parents will ride together, and that parents and officials will come into contact with each other.
