Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Hamburg's second division soccer club FC St. Pauli is taking part in the social media boycott initiated by the English Premier League clubs as a sign against racism and discrimination.

As the club announced on Thursday, the Hanseatics who are play-free this weekend will stop all communication on the relevant platforms from Friday morning to Monday evening.

«Hate and agitation on the net in the comment columns are becoming everyday life.

This global problem needs to be addressed.

From the governments, but above all from the social media companies, ”it said in a message from the association.

The FC St. Pauli show solidarity with all people who have been victims of agitation and discrimination in the social media.
