Bendorf (dpa / lrs) - A dispute over the mask requirement during a taxi ride has led to several injuries in Bendorf in the district of Mayen-Koblenz.

As the police announced on Thursday, four young men wanted to take a taxi home that night.

Because they did not want to wear mouth and nose protection as prescribed, the taxi driver did not want to take them with them.

Then an argument broke out in which one of the men hit the taxi driver in the face with his fist.

He then panicked and drove off.

When a car door slammed, one of the men was said to have had his front teeth chopped off.

Another was hit by the taxi driving off and suffered a broken arm and leg.

According to the police, two other men from the group were sitting in the car, one of whom had cut and lacerated the head of the taxi driver with a knife during the journey.

Finally, the man sitting on the passenger side stopped the car with the handbrake after a short drive.

This caused a great commotion, in which a colleague who had come to the taxi driver's aid was also involved.

Only the police could resolve the situation.

The investigation continues.
