Several prominent racing cyclists in Sweden have raised the issue of what they experience as increasing threats and harassment against cyclists.

Now several of them want the government to act on the issue.

- You can lie behind a cluster and then you get annoyed because we are wide.

Then you hit an angry horn that lasts for 10 seconds and then you drive again at a very high speed;

instead of, as we recommend, honking a little, we go down a path and then sneak around, says Magnus Ahlsén.

Skeptical of the Swedish Transport Agency's proposal

The background to the fact that several prominent competition cyclists have now reacted to the issue is a proposal that the Swedish Transport Agency has submitted to the government.

The proposal includes a proposal to remove the possibility of marking bicycle passages and remove the possibility of cycling on roads with a speed limit of 50 kilometers per hour.

Cyclists are skeptical of the Swedish Transport Agency's proposal.

They would rather see an introduced 1.5 meter rule and that bicycle infrastructure should be built along the state 2 + 1 roads.

Jan Brugård, Hymer CK in Linköping

Jan Brugård at the club Hymer CK in Linköping is one of those who want to see clearer rules.

- With the pandemic we have now, they said at the beginning that they would keep 1.5 meters away.

It is not a magical limit, but it will be clear and easy to understand.

On the road, the rule is to keep a "suitable distance" when driving around unprotected road users.

What is the appropriate distance?

Suddenly it becomes very diffuse.

We would rather see a clear rule that says 1.5 meters, he says.

One of those who noticed that the situation against cyclists on the roads has hardened is Magnus Ahlsén from Linköping.

In the clip above, he tells how it is on the roads as a cyclist.
