Amelinghausen (dpa / lni) - After the corona-related cancellation of the 2020 heather blossom festival in Amelinghausen in the Lüneburg district, the festival blossom club wants to announce at the beginning of May how it could go this year.

The decision whether there will be an election for a new heather queen this time is eagerly awaited.

At its monthly digital board meeting on Thursday, according to chairman Christian Kremer, the association wants to decide whether the regent Leonie Laryea should even hold office for a third year.

"I am available and do what is best for the club," said the 21-year-old of the German press agency.

The governess was crowned for the second time last year as the first heather queen.

The nine-day celebrations for the 71st heather blossom festival in August were canceled.

Applicants for the election of the new queen can usually register at the venue during the festival and must be at least 18 years old.

General appearance, linguistic dexterity and appearance are assessed.

The most famous queen to this day is the 1990 actress Jenny Elvers (48).
