Yesterday, the Al Jazeera Center for Public Freedoms and Human Rights launched a media initiative that sheds light on distinct examples of humanitarian work and individual human rights charitable projects in the Arab region.

The initiative seeks to encourage those models whose owners aim to change the status of their societies for the better, and left a positive impact on people's lives.

The new initiative entitled "Inspirational Stories" is shown weekly on Al Jazeera channels and its digital platforms, and viewers and followers of the network's pages choose the best initiatives among them, in order to support and honor their owners at the conclusion of the initiative.

The "Inspirational Stories" initiative is distinguished by the fact that it enables Al Jazeera viewers to participate and interact with selected stories, and gives them the opportunity to vote for the best work that deserves encouragement and support.

Thus, the viewer or follower becomes an executive member of the work production team, which lasts for several months, and ends with the organization of a celebration attended by the owners of the winning initiatives.

Sami Al Hajj, Director of the Al Jazeera Center for Public Freedoms and Human Rights, said, “The initiative’s first goal is to celebrate the inspiring human rights experiences and initiatives in the Arab region, and to shed light on the humanitarian side of these initiatives and their owners and the positive, inspiring impact they have on their local communities.”

Al-Hajj added that the inspiring stories will contribute to motivating people and societies to adopt this type of good practices, and add to the content of Al-Jazeera a new media material that is inspired by the network's vision and its humanitarian mission.

In the first season of "Inspirational Stories", initiatives and activists from different Arab countries will take part, including initiatives from Syria, Sudan, Mauritania, Palestine, Tunisia and others.

The Center launched a website for this initiative that includes reports on the owners of the participating human rights initiatives and projects.
