Darmstadt (dpa) - You are said to have held a 55-year-old prisoner, tortured and killed: A woman, her son and a suspected accomplice will have to answer before the Darmstadt district court from today.

The 50-year-old mother and her 26-year-old son are accused of murder, the 24-year-old alleged accomplice manslaughter.

The woman's body was found on August 10, 2016 in an allotment garden in Frankfurt.

According to the prosecution, the murdered person is said to have lived in the accused's Frankfurt apartment from 2011 onwards.

There she is said to have been held captive by the accused under the leadership of her mother, physically and psychologically abused and finally killed.

According to the prosecutor, the defendant and her son allegedly mistreated and detained other people who lived in the apartment.

All of the defendants are Germans.

The case is now going to court because there was no evidence of the identity of the killed and the accused until 2020.

The trial takes place in Darmstadt because the youngest defendant was an adolescent at the time of the crime and lived in Büttelborn, which belongs to the Darmstadt district court.

For the time being, eleven days of negotiations are scheduled until July 15.
