Several trains that ran again in the regions of Utrecht, Amersfoort, Amsterdam and Alkmaar on Wednesday morning had few or insufficient places, says the Dutch Railways.

In some cases, as a result of the collective labor agreement actions, people had to stay behind on Wednesday because the trains were full.

In the regions of Utrecht, Amersfoort, Amsterdam and Alkmaar there were no trains running between 06:00 and 08:00 on Wednesday because members of FNV Spoor campaigned at ProRail traffic control posts for a better collective labor agreement.

Train traffic was restarted between 08:00 and 08:30.

The trains have now been running according to the timetable for some time.

Some first trains that ran in the shut-down regions on Wednesday morning were either really too busy or were experienced by travelers as too busy in view of the corona rules, according to a spokesman for the Dutch Railways.

Within the public transport protocol, all sitting and standing places may be used ", the spokesperson explains." We notice that people sometimes find it too busy when they have to sit next to someone, but that is allowed and possible within the protocol.

That's why you wear a mouth mask in public transport. "

NS will make travelers extra aware of possible crowds

There are more promotions until Saturday.

On Thursday, action will be taken in the regions of The Hague, Rotterdam, Dordrecht and Roosendaal and Friday in the regions of Eindhoven, Maastricht, Arnhem, Zwolle and Groningen.

For Saturday, FNV has planned a nationwide 24-hour strike from 5 a.m.

According to the spokesperson, the Dutch Railways will point out to travelers that they must take into account that some first trains may be too busy or may be perceived as such.

"If you don't have to take the first or second train, travel a little later," the spokesperson advises.
