Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Greens and CDU in the southwest are turning into the home straight in their coalition negotiations.

Until Wednesday evening, the leaders around Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) and CDU regional chief Thomas Strobl dealt with the results of the twelve specialist working groups.

Today, Thursday, the wrestling over the question of which projects should have priority given the modest cash situation.

The coalition agreement should actually be finished on Saturday.

The two parties actually wanted to invest heavily in climate protection, the expansion of high-speed internet and local public transport, as well as promoting innovation.

There are also plans for more jobs in the police force and schools.

But in the coalition agreement, almost every project that entails costs should be subject to a budget reservation.

Now the future coalition must determine what is necessary and what is desirable.

In addition, Kretschmann and Co. want to meet in the evening (around 8 p.m.) with representatives of the municipal umbrella organizations.

Again, the main thing is money.

The district council has already warned that Green-Black should not pass the costs of expanding local transport on to the municipalities.
