After departing from Shanghai, they sailed from east to west, planning to travel to Suez, Egypt via the Gulf of Aden and the waters of Somalia.

After receiving the application for special escort of the fleet, the temporary party committee of the formation attached great importance to the escort task, rationally coordinated the escort plan, scientifically formulated the escort action plan, communicated and coordinated with the shipowner company in advance, and determined that the guided missile destroyer Changsha ship and the integrated supply ship Honghu ship would execute it.   Before arriving at the pick-up point, the formation temporarily received a request from the fishing fleet. The fleet 1716 was unable to navigate autonomously due to a power failure, and was towed by the 1715 fishing boat, which prevented it from arriving on time.

After receiving the information for help, the formation command post immediately coordinated the communication and docking between the ship maintenance support experts and the fishing fleet, and used the maritime satellite telephone to remotely assist in finding and analyzing the cause of the failure, and put forward maintenance suggestions.

At the same time, in order to ensure the safety of fishing vessels, the two mission ships went out 40 nautical miles to take care of them in advance.

To express their gratitude to the escort formation, the crew of the No. 1715 fishing boat displayed banners with the words "Thank the motherland navy for escorting me" and "Proud of the motherland navy" in the wheelhouse and the middle section of the fishing boat respectively. Formation helicopters and special forces personnel maintain combat conditions throughout the entire process, and comprehensively use helicopter patrols, naval maneuvers, and night searchlight sweeping methods to strengthen observation and alert, and closely monitor the surrounding sea and airspace conditions of the formation.

  In order to ensure the safety of fishing boats, the formation command post decided to extend the escort route and escorted 5 fishing boats all the way to the south entrance of the Mande Strait.
