"At the initiative of Russia, it was proposed to form a Coordination Council of the authorized bodies of the CSTO member states on biological safety, accountable to the Committee of Secretaries of the CSTO Security Councils," he said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

It is assumed that this council will be engaged in the development of practical measures to prevent threats to national, regional and international security against the background of the impact of dangerous biological factors.

“It is important for us to jointly analyze the situation with bio-threats, exchange experience, plan joint actions in this area ... it is long overdue to improve the legal framework for cooperation on biological security,” Nurgaliyev emphasized.

At the end of 2020, the Federation Council approved the law on biosafety in Russia, taking into account amendments that extend its effect, including to coronavirus infection.
