Kjell Larsson has been trying to get fiber connected to his yellow house in the country for many years.

As early as 2015, he submitted an expression of interest to IP-Only via an external link that was available on the municipality of Flen's website.

For SEK 19,900, he would get a fiber connection to his house, but that did not happen.

- It is clear that you are disappointed, he says.

For cool interest

When IP-Only looked at the possibility of expanding the fiber network in Kjell's area in 2018, the company was able to state that there were too few expressions of interest.

At least 70 percent of everyone in the area was required to register an interest.

- The expression of interest states "if the interest is large enough, we will return with an offer to you", but the interest was not large enough in the construction area, says Andreas Eriksson, municipal manager at IP-Only.

Name collection started

Two years later, Kjell and two of his neighbors did a name collection for the residents who wanted fiber.

There were about 20 signatures, but according to IP-Only this was also too little.

- Since during this time there were also no opportunities to apply for support funds, we calculated the price for each household at SEK 170,000, says Eriksson.

In the clip below, Andreas Eriksson talks about Kjell Larsson's chances of getting fiber.
