The NHL club Columbus Blue Jackets and the Finnish Hockey Association announced that the club's general manager Jarmo Kekäläinen will serve as the assistant GM of the Lions Olympic team at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
Kekäläinen will help Lions general manager Jere Lehti select players for the Olympics, the press release says.
Kuopio-based Kekäläinen, 54, has held similar positions before.
He was Finland's assistant GM at the 2016 World Cup and the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
Kekäläinen started Blue Jackets as a GM in the winter of 2013, when he became the first European general manager to lead the NHL.
Under Kekäläinen, Columbus has risen to a prominent NHL team, reaching the playoffs five times.
Admittedly, the current season in Kekäläinen Columbus has been a violent turbulence.
The team is in jumbo position in the Central Division, and the playoff dreams may have been thrown in the scrap yard this time.
