Dresden (AP) - Dynamo Dresden has won its first game under the new coach Alexander Schmidt.

The Elbestädter defeated MSV Duisburg with a goal from Christoph Daferner (77th) with 1-0 (0-0) in a catch-up game of the 3rd soccer league on Wednesday evening.

As a result of the first win after four consecutive games without a win, the Saxons are the new third in the table and can already take the lead in the second catch-up game at KFC Uerdingen on Saturday.

Dynamo got off to a powerful start with the new system, but was lucky not to fall behind early on.

After a bad pass by goalkeeper Kevin Broll, Aziz Bouhaddouz (12th) is free to shoot, but only hits the post.

About 20 minutes later, Dynamo's goalkeeper saved with a remarkable reflex after a ricochet from teammate Sebastian Mai.

The home side could have been in the lead by then, but Luka Stor (19th) failed freely from four meters to Duisburg goalkeeper Leo Weinkauf.

A headed goal by Tim Knipping (22nd) was not recognized because of an alleged foul play by referee Asmir Osmanagic.

In the second round both teams played to win, but scoring chances were no longer offered as often.

Especially the home side now had bigger problems to get in front of the Duisburger Tor.

In the end, Dynamos had the only real chance to win in the second half because Daferner forced the goal on the flank of substitute Panagiotis Vlachodimos.
