DECRYPTION

Prime Minister Jean Castex announced it on Wednesday at the end of the Health Defense Council and the Council of Ministers: Emmanuel Macron will present on Friday "the prospects" of "gradual exit" from the anti-Covid restrictions.

According to our information, the decision to make this speech was taken at the beginning of the week.

Small peculiarity: the President of the Republic asked his team to find another format than that of classic speeches.

There should not be a Friday night meeting in front of their television for the French, as has often been the case for thirteen months.

The announcement of an end of the curfew for June 2

Convinced that he is more convincing when he responds to journalists, according to several corroborating sources, Emmanuel Macron should give a major interview to the regional daily press which will be published on Friday morning.

Regarding the substance, the president wants to explain again his strategy for the moment not always well understood.

He especially wants to give hope and announce good news a few months from now on the presidential election.

This good news will confirm the lifting of traffic restrictions for May 3 and the end of the curfew for June 2.

This "gradual" lifting of the restrictions that the Head of State wants to present to the French will however be conditioned by both the vaccination campaign and the dynamics of the epidemic, that is to say the circulation of the virus.

Towards an exit from the state of health emergency

Emmanuel Macron should also return to a symbol, referring to the end of the state of health emergency for June 2.

This was adopted on Wednesday in the Council of Ministers.

This step will, however, remove few exceptional powers from the government: at any time until October 31, the executive may still decide to close places open to the public in the event the epidemic resumes.
