France has reported 103,918 deaths on Wednesday since the start of the Covid-19 epidemic in the country, with 315 deaths reported in the past 24 hours.

For the first time since April 5, the total number of hospitalizations fell below 30,000 patients.

The number of patients in intensive care is still around 5,900.

The number of hospitalized Covid-19 patients dropped back below 30,000 on Wednesday, for the first time since early April, while the number of patients in intensive care is still flirting with 5,900, according to figures from Public Health France.

Critical care services (which bring together resuscitation, intensive care and continuous monitoring) numbered 5,879 people on Wednesday, including 349 new patients admitted in the past 24 hours but with 64 fewer patients since the last assessment.

The total number of hospitalizations had not fallen below the 30,000 mark since April 5

Since April 12, the number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized in these services has been close to 6,000 patients.

A figure below the peak of the first wave in April 2020 (around 7,000) but higher than that of the second wave in the fall (4,900).

The number of Covid patients in the hospital is now 29,911, or 370 people less compared to the last assessment and with 1,708 new hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.

This total had not fallen below the 30,000 mark since April 5.

In addition, 315 Covid patients have died in hospital in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths since the start of the epidemic to 103,918.

In 24 hours, the number of confirmed positive cases is 31,539.

Over the past seven days, this gives a daily average of 27,000 positive cases.

In addition, according to vaccination figures released Wednesday evening by the Ministry of Health, 14.9 million people have received at least one injection, of which more than 6 million have been fully vaccinated with their two doses (or 9% of the total population and 11.5% of the adult population).
