Ingolstadt (dpa / bb) - The Eisbären Berlin have prevented the demise in the semifinals of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) for the time being.

On Wednesday evening, after a strong performance at ERC Ingolstadt, the capitals won 3: 2 (1: 1, 0: 1, 2: 0) and thus managed to equalize 1: 1 in the best-of-three series.

Leonhard Pföderl, Matt White and Ryan McKiernan ensured the success they deserved with their goals.

The decision about the final will now be made on Friday evening in the arena at Ostbahnhof.

In front of empty stands in the Ingolstadt arena, the polar bears fell behind after 57 seconds: Tim Wohlgemuth scored after going it alone for the hosts.

But the Berliners were not shocked, Pföderl provided the deserved compensation.

After the first break, the guests increased the pressure, but could not use even the best chances.

So the Ingolstadt team took the lead again because Mirko Höfflin successfully completed a counterattack.

In the final third, the capital city ran on and rewarded themselves with a power play goal from White.

In the penultimate minute of the game, McKiernan's goal ensured the late decision in favor of the polar bears, who can continue to dream of the final.
