The company "Pfizer" announces the timing of the production of an anti-Coronavirus drug

Pfizer CEO Albert Burla announced that the anti-Covid-19 drug, which is caused by the Coronavirus, and is taken orally, may be ready next year.

On a CNBC program, Burla expressed hope that this drug would be produced by the end of the year if all went well.

The only antiviral drug currently approved for use against the Coronavirus is remdesivir made by Gilead Sciences.

The US Food and Drug Administration approved it in October, after it was granted an emergency license in May.

Burla added that Pfizer is working on two anti-virus drugs, one by mouth and the other by injection, according to the American Al-Hurra website.

Burla added, "We pay special attention to the oral medication because it provides many advantages. One of them is that you do not need to go to the hospital for treatment, you can get it at home."

He indicated that the drug could be a more effective method against multiple mutations of the virus.

He explained that the company will have more news about this development later this summer.

Pfizer developed the vaccine against Covid-19 jointly with the German pharmaceutical company "Biontech", which was granted by the Food and Drug Administration an emergency license in December, and it is one of the three vaccines against the disease currently approved for use in the United States.
