Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Stuttgart Airport, which was badly hit by the collapsed travel market, posted a high double-digit million minus last year.

The airport put the losses on Wednesday at 96.9 million euros, after a profit of 50.2 million euros had been generated in 2019.

Sales collapsed by more than half to just 142.1 million euros - and thus even more than forecast at the beginning of December.

The debt level also rose rapidly.

The liabilities climbed by 129 percent to 144.2 million euros.

The background to the poor business figures are unprecedented corona-related slumps in passenger numbers and flight movements.

As expected, the number of passengers fell by almost three quarters to just 3.2 million.

The number of flight movements fell by almost 60 percent to 58,803.
