Berlin (dpa / bb) - From the point of view of Berlin's Senator for Health, Dilek Kalayci, further steps towards normality are possible in the nursing homes.

She and many experts took a closer look at the situation in the facilities, said the SPD politician of the RBB “evening show” on Tuesday.

"And I have come to the conclusion that if, for example, 90 percent of the residents in a nursing home have been vaccinated, we can take further steps towards normalcy," says Kalayci.

"Point one is that visitors no longer have to be tested if they have full vaccination protection."

In this case, there should no longer be a time limit for the visiting rules - whether for indoors or outdoors.

The restrictions for nursing home residents, who often suffer from the previous extensive isolation, had repeatedly been criticized in the past.

Only since Saturday has it been allowed to visit the old people's and nursing homes for two hours a day and two hours a day for two hours in the outdoor area.

Kalayci had announced further steps after the Senate meeting on Tuesday afternoon.

This also includes the fact that there should no longer be a daily test obligation for the nursing staff if they have full vaccination protection or have recovered, as the health senator explained in the "evening show".

"That means the next easing steps are pending," said Kalayci.

"We have coordinated these proposals with the care associations."

According to the Senator, the new rules will be implemented “in the next few days”.
