In the sound of the mechanized boom sliding, the workers were nervous and busy at each production line of Guangxi Liugong Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Liugong).

Loaders that rolled off the assembly line from here created the world's number one sales record.

On the afternoon of April 26, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the State and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, visited Liuzhou City, Guangxi, and came to Liugong to learn about the reform and innovation of enterprises and the development of manufacturing industry.

As the vanguard of China's construction machinery, this 63-year-old company has grown from a "small branch factory" to a large multinational enterprise today, deducting the transformation of construction machinery from "Made in Guangxi" to "Intelligent Manufacturing in Guangxi".

In the early days of the founding of New China, Guangxi's industry was almost blank.

Since 1956, more than 8,000 workers and their families in Shanghai have left their hometowns to support Guangxi's industrial construction.

Yang Guanmiao is one of them and has witnessed the development and changes of Liugong.

"At that time, Liugong was still a wasteland. Shanghai workers could only sleep on the ground in the simple felt sheds they built, making their homes and building factories." recalled Yang Guanmiao, who has worked at Liugong for nearly 40 years.

In 1965, China's First Ministry of Machinery Industry handed over the task of trial-manufacturing the loader to Liugong. Technical problems made Liugong difficult.

In order to complete the production task, Liugong sent Yang Guanmiao and his colleagues to Xiamen to study and learn.

In 1966, Liugong overcame numerous resistances and successfully trial-produced China's first wheel loader.

Since then, Liugong has become China's first manufacturer of heavy machinery.

In 2017, Liugong spent 270 million yuan (RMB, the same below) to build Liugong's global R&D center, dedicated to the development of intelligent manufacturing, and became the industry's first approved Chinese national technology center.

At present, the R&D center has a R&D team of more than 1,300 people, 5 overseas R&D centers, and 761 patents, including 189 invention patents.

Driven by research and innovation, Liugong has successfully developed unmanned road rollers, a new generation of green pure electric, intelligent loaders, and excavators.

Developed China's first 5G intelligent remote control loader, which can remotely control the operation of the loader from thousands of miles away.

In Liugong's China Polar Scientific Expedition Engineering Machinery Laboratory, it can simulate the environment of minus 50°C to 60°C, helping to develop low-noise, low fuel consumption, and high-reliability polar scientific expedition weighers.

"The general secretary paid attention to this pure electric loader when inspecting Liugong." Huang Sui, Director of Testing Technology of Liugong's Global R&D Center, introduced that this pure electric loader is more fuel-efficient and operates more intelligently.

Under the same working conditions, the noise generated by it is 10% lower than the current world's most stringent EU standard.

At present, the loader has been sold in batches and has assisted the construction of major Chinese projects such as the Sichuan-Tibet Railway, Qingdao Undersea Tunnel, and Green Port.

“The company attaches great importance to R&D. The daily R&D depreciation fee of the global R&D center is 100,000 yuan.” In Huang Sui’s view, the investment of a large amount of R&D funds has promoted the green and intelligent products of Liugong, and has a core in the international field. Competitiveness.

Liugong started the road of internationalization in 2002, and has taken an internationalization path from overseas marketing to overseas manufacturing to overseas mergers and acquisitions, becoming the pioneer of Chinese construction machinery enterprises "going out to sea".

Today, Liugong has 13 overseas subsidiaries, 17 regional parts centers, and 20 manufacturing bases around the world.

Liugong's products are sold to more than 170 countries and regions, and its international business covers 85% of the countries along the “Belt and Road”, and overseas revenue accounts for up to 1/3.

The development of Liugong is a microcosm of the development of China's manufacturing industry.

At present, China is not only the world's largest construction machinery manufacturing base, but also the world's largest manufacturing country for 11 consecutive years, and has become the only country in the world with all industrial categories.

General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in Liugong's investigation that high-quality development is the only way for China's economic development during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, and high-quality development of the equipment manufacturing industry is the top priority.

He emphasized that high-quality development and innovation are very important. Only innovation can be self-reliant and strive for the first. On the road of independent innovation, we must be unswerving, persistent, and higher.
