Berlin (dpa) - A good start to the current financial year makes the delivery service Delivery Hero optimistic for 2021. Therefore, the management wants to more than double the annual turnover compared to the previous year to 6.1 to 6.6 billion euros, as listed in the Dax Company announced on Wednesday in Berlin.

Delivery Hero also benefits from a takeover that was completed at the beginning of March.

On a comparable basis, the group expects an increase in sales of up to almost 90 percent.

The gross value of goods (GMV) is also expected to be more than twice as large as a year ago at EUR 31 to 34 billion.

On a comparable basis - including the acquired South Korean company - the gross value of the goods last year was just under 22 billion euros.

In operational terms, Delivery Hero will continue to be in the red.

The Management Board expects a margin based on the adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) of minus 1.5 to minus 2 percent.

In the first quarter, Delivery Hero continued to benefit from strong demand as a result of the global corona measures, which make going out in restaurants hardly possible.

The number of orders rose on a comparable basis by 88 percent to 663 million, and the gross value of goods increased by a similar rate compared to the previous year to 7.8 billion euros.

At just under 1.4 billion euros, group sales were twice as high as a year ago.

The company did not provide any information on its first quarter earnings.
