Tuesday evening, the Head of State met with a dozen city officials to discuss the scenario of deconfinement.

If nothing seems to have been done yet, Emmanuel Macron spoke of the possibility of reducing the curfew in mid-May, and spoke out in favor of the opening of vaccination to overweight under 55s.

Emmanuel Macron continues to prepare for deconfinement.

For now, the rest is still unclear and takes shape in stages until the end of June, especially for restaurants closed for six months.

So to outline the contours of the coming weeks and take the temperature, the Head of State spoke on Tuesday evening by video for two and a half hours with a dozen mayors.

And if no public address has been announced yet, the next steps related to the health crisis may well be detailed after this weekend.

Mid-May, an important meeting

The scenario of deconfinement seems to be unfolding little by little, with one main lesson noted by elected officials: the desire displayed by the president to ease the curfew as soon as possible.

The track envisaged by Emmanuel Macron would indeed be to leave it at 7 p.m. until mid-May, then a little later until the summer.

Information confirmed by Valentin Belleval, the mayor of Hazebrouck.

"I heard that the curfew was maintained until mid-May and that there would be no exception to this rule until that date," he explained.

And in the calendar for the weeks to come, mid-May should be an important meeting to announce precisely three to four progressive phases of deconfinement, according to another participant in the meeting on Tuesday evening.

The date of May 12 is also mentioned for a series of reopening announcements depending on the territories and incidence rates.

"From the moment we reopen non-food businesses, the stated desire is to reopen all businesses at the same time. That is to say restaurants but also places of culture, cinemas, museums ... ", said Valentin Belleval.

A speech after the weekend?

Regarding vaccination, Emmanuel Macron pleaded to further accelerate the campaign and spoke in favor of opening the appointments to overweight under 55s.

No timetable has been specified, but an advisor confirms that this line of work is indeed under study.

New elements therefore, but nothing official.

As usual lately, the Elysee uses and abuses these small sequences where the president distills details during informal exchanges.

As for a potential public address to clarify all this, an elected official present Tuesday evening thinks she has understood that the Head of State plans to speak by the end of the week.

"No date has been given but we saw a President of the Republic who very clearly has an appointment with the French and who will address them in the coming days", also affirmed the mayor of Hazebrouck.

Again, no confirmation from the Elysee, which suggests rather that a speech could take place after the weekend.
