April 28, 2021 The so-called Indian variant of the Covid-19 virus has been sequenced in at least 17 countries around the world, including Italy. The World Health Organization (WHO) notes this in its weekly bulletin on the pandemic.



The mutation of the virus, hitherto unknown, is mainly affecting India, and has been detected in over 1,200 sequences uploaded to the international Gisaid database, WHO recalls. The countries where it has been detected in addition to India, the United States, the United Kingdom and Singapore. Cases also in Belgium, Switzerland, Greece and Italy.
