Erfurt (dpa) - Visitors to the Federal Garden Show in Erfurt have been able to have themselves tested for the corona virus in a test center specially set up for them since Wednesday.

The center at the Erfurt exhibition center went into operation on Wednesday morning.

It is primarily intended for Buga guests who are arriving from other Thuringian regions and from other federal states.

In the first hours after the opening, the 20 test stations were still leisurely and the number of visitors was limited.

The facility is designed for 5000 people per day.

The city of Erfurt has commissioned a private provider to carry out the tests.

Visitors to the Federal Garden Show must present a negative test at the entrance.

This is regulated in the nationwide corona regulations that have been tightened since Saturday.

On the opening weekend of the Federal Horticultural Show, which opened on Friday, there were test problems because the existing capacities of the around 40 smaller test sites in Erfurt were not sufficient or the testing pharmacies and medical practices were closed.

In some cases, potential Buga visitors had to postpone their visits even though they had registered for it.

That had also led to resentment.
