China News Agency, Vienna, April 27th. On the 27th local time, a new round of political director-general meeting of the Joint Committee on the Comprehensive Agreement on the Iranian Nuclear Issue was held in Vienna, Austria.

Ambassador Wang Qun, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations in Vienna, attended the meeting.

Wang Qun said that the Joint Commission’s negotiations on the United States and Iran to resume compliance have entered the fourth week.

This will be a very important week.

At present, some important progress has been made in the negotiations, but there are still some important differences.

China believes that the issue of the order in which the United States and Iran resume their performance is a matter of right and wrong, and should not turn the cart before the horse.

It was the former US government that unilaterally withdrew from the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue and exerted extreme pressure on Iran that led to the current Iranian nuclear crisis.

For this reason, the United States should first remove all illegal unilateral sanctions on Iran and third parties. This is the key to the success of the negotiations.

All parties must continue to focus on and resolve this core issue first.

At the same time, the Joint Commission must also consider how to verify the lifting of sanctions by the United States.

Wang Qun said that China hopes that all parties concerned will maintain the current momentum of negotiations, stick to the right direction, adhere to the existing consensus, and work tirelessly to achieve the overall goal of the negotiations.

Before the meeting, Wang Qun held a China-Russia-Iran trilateral meeting with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Araghzi and Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna Ulyanov. They fully exchanged views on current important issues concerning the resumption of negotiations between the United States and Iran.

On the same day, Wang Qun also met with Mora, Deputy Secretary-General of the European Union’s External Action Agency, and exchanged views on advancing the current negotiations. He emphasized China’s support for the EU to play an active role as a coordinator in the negotiations and put forward European documents as soon as possible.
