The worst news is confirmed

," Pedro Sanchez tweeted Tuesday afternoon.

All our affection for the family and loved ones of David Beriain and Roberto Fraile, murdered in Burkina Faso.

And our gratitude

, continued the Spanish Prime Minister,

to those like them who practice courageous and essential journalism on a daily basis from conflict zones

.

A little earlier, it was the Minister of Foreign Affairs who had, during a press conference in Madrid, confirmed that the two Spanish journalists and the Irish humanitarian aid worker had been "

executed

" during the attack on their convoy, near Pama.

An attack described as "terrorist" a little later in the evening by a Burkinabè official.

Finally last confirmation in the night, in a post published on Facebook, the NGO

Chengeta Wild

mentioned the death of its CEO Rory Young, the third man, initially described as a journalist, but who is an environmental activist.

The remains of the three Westerners were transferred in the evening to Ouagadougou.

Kidnapped at the same time as the three European expatriates, we still have no news from Burkinabè.

The team was making a documentary on poaching when their convoy was attacked.

According to our information, the mission seemed to have been strongly discouraged.

Despite the many security operations in this area, there are still threats.

This execution provoked reactions beyond Spain and Ireland.

By assassinating journalists in Burkina Faso, terrorists have shown once again their cowardice and their true criminal face

: that of defenders of an obscurantism which annihilates all freedom of expression

", for example reacted on Twitter the head of European Union diplomacy, Josep Borrell.
