Hagen (dpa / lnw) - A car driver in Hagen was seriously injured in a collision with an ambulance.

The ambulance wanted to cross an intersection on Tuesday with a siren and flashing lights and crashed head-on into the side of a car, the police said.

The 26-year-old driver was trapped by the force of the impact and, seriously injured, was rescued from the wreck by the fire brigade.

The ambulance team took care of her on site, after which she was taken to a hospital.

A passenger in the ambulance was slightly injured.

At the scene of the accident, the suspicion arose that the 26-year-old could have been behind the wheel under the influence of drugs.

She had to give a blood sample.

The police began investigating the cause of the accident.
