Bayern Munich, the German and European champions, announced today, Tuesday, that they have signed Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann to take over the promising coach from next season to succeed Hans Flick for 5 years.

Nagelsmann became the king of records;

After being the youngest coach in the German League and the advanced roles of the Champions League, he also became the most expensive coach in football history, according to the Spanish newspaper, MARCA.

Nagelsmann's contract with Leipzig expires in 2023, and Bayern will reportedly pay more than 20 million euros ($ 24.13 million) for the penalty clause.

Julian Nagelsmann will coach Bayern, and Hanse Flick's contract will be terminated at his request.

Nagelsmann, 33, coached Leipzig - second-placed in the German league - in 2019, and led him to the semi-finals of the Champions League last year.

Flick will leave Bayern at the end of the current season with a personal desire, despite his contract extending until 2023.

Leipzig chief executive Oliver Mintslav said the amount Bayern paid for Nagelsmann was "very large".

"Yesterday the two clubs finalized the contract details, and I am happy with what happened," Nagelsmann told a virtual press conference.

"In the coming weeks I will not talk about it again. I am still an employee in Leipzig and I have 5 matches left, and we want to finish the league in second place and win the German Cup," he added.

He declined to comment on the value of the transfer, saying it was not his contract.

Nagelsmann - a lover of attacking football, intense pressure and quick turns, who became the youngest coach in the Bundesliga when he took over at Hoffenheim five years ago - was seen as a future goal for Bayern.

Bayern president Herbert Heiner said, "Julian Nagelsmann represents a new generation of coaches, and despite his young age, he has already had an impressive career, and we are convinced that he will continue the successes of the past years."

Nagelsmann led Leipzig to achieve third place in the German league in his first season, and qualified for the semi-finals in the Champions League, and his team still has a chance to win the league title this season, as it is 7 points behind Bayern, with 3 matches remaining.

But expectations will be high after Flick is crowned with all the available titles in the 2019-2020 season, and he appears on his way to leaving office with Bayern's ninth consecutive league title.

Flick entered into disagreements with Bayern's sporting director Hassan Salih Hamidic due to the contracting policy, and the failure to include players wanted by the coach in his squad.

"For me, what happened in the past two years is unforgettable," said Flick - who took command in November 2019.

"It was an amazing period and you can only succeed by coming together, and the coach is worth nothing without the team, and I was lucky to train great players in Munich."

Flick appears to be the strongest candidate to succeed Joachim Loew in coaching the German national team, after the European Championship next June, which encouraged him to leave Bayern, after his historic success with the Bavarian team.
