Erfurt (dpa / th) - In Thuringia, ten percent of the population now have complete vaccination against Covid-19.

The Free State was the first federal state to break the mark, according to figures from the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin on Tuesday.

According to this, 212 757 people in the Free State received the necessary two syringes.

For first vaccinations there are 484 463, which corresponds to a population share of 22.7 percent.

"This is a joint success that we owe only to the tireless efforts of all those involved," said Health Minister Heike Werner (Linke).

So far, 7.3 percent of people across Germany have received two doses of vaccine.

More than half of all vaccine doses (51 percent) were given at the 29 regional vaccination centers. Almost a fifth (18 percent) is accounted for by the three supraregional vaccination centers in Erfurt, Gera and Meiningen. The mobile vaccination teams, including those in nursing homes, took on around 15 percent. Every tenth vaccination was given in general practitioners' offices, which corresponds to around 70,000 doses, according to the ministry. The Thuringian hospitals account for around six percent of the vaccinations.

In order to make progress with the vaccination campaign, Thuringia continues to rely on the parallel use of vaccination centers in addition to the medical practices.

This was necessary in view of the expected vaccine quantities, it said from the ministry.

Another large vaccination center is expected to open in Leinefelde-Worbis in June.

For May alone, the Federal Ministry of Health has announced the delivery of more than 200,000 doses of vaccine from the manufacturers Biontech / Pfizer and Moderna to Thuringia.

After the vaccination consultations by the federal and state governments on Monday, corona vaccinations should be possible for everyone in Germany by June at the latest, i.e. without a previous fixed order (prioritization).
