See the municipality's reaction to SVT's revelation and hear more about the man in the clip above.

When SVT Nyheter Väst examines private daycare providers in Gothenburg, what were previously called daycare centers, we find a man who has been convicted of terrorist crimes.

He was sentenced in 2008 to several years in prison in a European country for "participating in an organization with the aim of committing terrorist crimes".

For several years, the man has been living with a woman who receives daycare children in the couple's joint home.

- I am not surprised, says Amanda Larsson, head of law and case management at the preschool administration in Gothenburg.

She believes that municipalities would find more similar cases - if they could examine daycare providers' connections to, among other things, extremism.

Legislative change required

However, in order for the municipalities to be able to examine day care workers, and those who live in the same home, a change in the law is required.

Such a bill is with the Government Offices, but the preschool administration thinks it is urgent.

Amanda Larsson, head of law and case management at the preschool administration in Gothenburg.

- I think that all children have the right to the same first year in care.

Then I think this law would have helped, says Amanda Larsson at the preschool administration.

What are you going to do with the terrorist connection that SVT is now revealing?

- Now that we have been told that there are unscrupulous actors, we do what we can according to the law today.

We must carry out a focused supervision of the business if what you report in the report is true, says Amanda Larsson.

Preschool and school have been closed

With regard to private schools and pre-schools, a similar change in the law was implemented in 2019. The municipalities were then given greater authority to review the suitability of their owners.

In two years, two preschools and a school in Gothenburg have been revealed as linked to Islamist violent extremism.

The municipality has now closed two of the operations.

The man changes address

SVT Nyheter has spoken to the woman who believes that her husband is innocent and that all parents are happy with her work.

SVT has not reached the man who immediately after our conversation with his wife writes to another address.
