"The employees are at their wit's end both nervously and physically"

Employees are demanding their retention within the Renault group when the car manufacturer announced a month and a half ago that the plant was put up for sale.

Since then, according to the unions, the local management in Caudan has remained deaf to their demands.

The production activity is at a standstill. No more parts are manufactured and above all, no member of the management comes out. They are five held inside, but Maël Le Goff, CGT delegate, does not speak of kidnapping, only of a means of pressure. "We fear the closure of the company. The employees are nervous and physically exhausted and we still have no answer to our questions," he explains at the microphone of Europe 1. "However, our demands are simple: stay in the Renault group and that we can return to work calmly and normally. "

Tuesday evening, the management of Renault condemned the blocking of the plant and called for an "immediate return to calm".

Despite this, the union representatives assure him: they will hold the seat as long as the Renault group does not give up this sale.

Teams of 100 to 150 employees should take turns throughout the night to occupy the site.

Established near Lorient since 1965, the Fonderie de Bretagne manufactures suspension arms, exhaust manifolds and elbows, as well as gearbox differentials.
