Munich (dpa) - Thanks to a transfer world record, Julian Nagelsmann is fulfilling FC Bayern’s “lifelong dream” - and Hansi Flick is very close to his heart's desire.

The most spectacular coach rotation in German football history is largely perfect.

After leaving Leipzig, Nagelsmann wants to continue the historically successful title hunt of the presumably future national coach Flick.

After the Munich team's contract with Flick, he is expected to be introduced to the DFB as Joachim Löw's successor.

Leipzig, which receives the highest fee for a coach in football from Bayern, is facing a turning point not only because of the Nagelsmann departure.

Nagelsmann signs a five-year contract with the record champions until June 30, 2026, which means a big leap of faith for the 33-year-old and so far untitled coach.

«The overall package is simply something special.

I would not have done that for any other club, »said Nagelsmann at the early end of the RB - and when asked about the multi-million dollar payment, he was cool.

"Basically, I'm not afraid of a transfer fee now," said Nagelsmann.

The native Bavarian is much more looking forward to the attractive new position in the club, of which he was a fan of the Munich team as a child and youth.

And his family, who already live in the Free State.

Like Flick with the championship, Nagelsmann also wants to say goodbye to the current club with a title - with winning the cup.

And next season Nagelsmann will be hunted by RB.

«Full attack on Julian Nagelsmann and the FCB», announced CEO Oliver Mintzlaff sitting next to him the future motto.

It remains to be seen whether the traded American Jesse Marsch from Salzburg will take over for Nagelsmann, who was originally bound to Leipzig until 2023.

The name of the new national coach is still open - but actually only officially.

Bayern cleared the way to the national team this summer with the dissolution of the Flick contract dated June 30, 2023.

In his words of thanks, the 56-year-old did not comment on the future, which everyone in football Germany expects in the Löw office.

It has already been speculated that assistant coach Miroslav Klose could accompany Flick in the event of a move to the DFB.

The contract of the World Cup record scorer is also running out.

Flick, who succeeded Niko Kovac in November 2019, can look back on an “unforgettable” year and a half as head coach in Munich with “emotions, victories and titles”.

The farewell with the championship trophy as the seventh trophy is almost perfect.

Hansi Flick will "always have a place in the history books of FC Bayern", thanked President Herbert Hainer.

Uli Hoeneß's successor is looking forward to his term of office with the new young man as a representative of a “new generation of coaches”.

One can only speculate about the high transfer fee for a coach, especially in Corona times.

The 30 million euros thrown into the room will certainly not be reached.

But the rumored 15 million euros plus premium payments are also a record.

So far, the 7.5 million euros for Adi Hütter's move from Eintracht Frankfurt to Borussia Mönchengladbach was the highest transfer fee for a coach in Germany.

Internationally, Andre Villas Boas moved from FC Porto to Chelsea ten years ago as a record.

At that time there was talk of 15 million euros - with additional payments, the current deal would be higher.

“There are many players who cost significantly more, and they also have to deal with the pressure and perform.

It's the same with me, too, ”said Nagelsmann, who does not want to take any more stars with him after the transfer of Dayot Upamecano, which has long been confirmed.

Together with the 42.5 million euros for defense chief Upamecano, the Munich-based company transferred well over 50 million euros to RB. To what extent this and a corona-related loss of revenue of 150 million calculated by the Munich-based company will limit the scope for action for transfers in the summer and how much Nagelsmann will be able to help shape the desired solution valued by sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, remains to be seen. On transfer issues, there were repeated differences between Salihamidzic and Flick, who thanked each other in the press releases three Bundesliga games before the end of their journey together.

At first, CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge surprisingly did not comment. Oliver Kahn took over this role for the board of directors - an anticipation of the future in the management floor on Säbener Straße. "Julian's five-year contract alone shows how much he identifies with FC Bayern," said Kahn, who will take over Rummenigges' post at the end of the year.

The people of Munich not only regulate their favorite solution for the Flick successor. They weaken the last largest competitor, where the departure of sports director Markus Krösche was already certain. "We will close the gap, we will continue to attack," said Mintzlaff. He recalled departures like Timo Werner (Chelsea FC) or Naby Keïta (Liverpool FC). Even after that one had continued success. "It's not like we're burying our heads in the sand," said Mintzlaff.

For the group-run RB Club, however, in the end it was the “rational rather than the emotional side” that made the difference, as CEO Mintzlaff affirmed.

Bavaria had met the “massively high transfer fee” and thus a “record fee” for Nagelsmann, who was obliged to pay five million euros from Hoffenheim at the time.

Mintzlaff was reluctant when asked about the new coach.

"Nothing has been decided yet," he said.

There is a “shortlist” with three names.

The favorite is march, two other options could be Oliver Glasner (VfL Wolfsburg) or Roger Schmidt (PSV Eindhoven).
