Nortorf (dpa / lno) - The German Record Museum is getting help from the state and federal government for the planned move to the former boiler house of the Teldec record factory in Nortorf (Rendsburg-Eckerförde district).

The Interior Ministry is funding the renovation of the boiler house with 750,000 euros, as Interior Minister Sabine Sütterlin-Waack (CDU) announced on Tuesday.

The money comes from the town center development financed jointly by the federal and state governments.

So far, the museum has been housed in a former residential building nearby.

«An exciting cultural-historical project is being created in Nortorf with the German Record Museum.

At the same time, a venue will be created that will strengthen Nortorf's city center, ”said the minister.

The project is expected to cost a total of around 1.15 million euros.

In the small town north of Neumünster, Teldec ran a record factory until 1989, in which several hundred million records were pressed.

In 2019, the people of Nortorf decided in a referendum to convert the boiler house into a museum.

The building is the last remnant of the factory.

Today there is a shopping center on the site.

Most recently, the museum had more than 3000 visitors a year.

It is currently closed due to the corona pandemic.
