Wiesloch (dpa) - The rising demand, especially from China, brought Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG better results in the 2020/21 Corona financial year than initially expected.

As the company announced on Tuesday evening based on preliminary figures, its own forecast was exceeded in terms of sales and operating returns.

Accordingly, sales between April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021 were around 1.913 billion euros, slightly more than initially expected in the best case.

In the previous year, sales were a good 2.3 billion euros.

The operating result (Ebitda) reached around 146 million euros in 2020/21 after 102 million euros in the previous year.

A significant recovery in the final quarter contributed to the good result.

The realignment of the company also had a positive effect.

The printing press manufacturer announced last spring that it would streamline structures and get rid of loss-makers and “marginal activities”.

In addition, around 1,600 jobs should be deleted.

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen plans to publish the complete figures for the 2020/21 financial year on June 9, 2021.
