Munich (AP) - The Presidium of the Bavarian Football Association (BFV) has decidedly condemned the derailment of DFB President Fritz Keller.

As the BFV announced on Tuesday, the Presidium met in a short-term video conference without BFV President Rainer Koch.

It assured Koch full support "in this extremely difficult situation for him".

“The members of the BFV Presidium are appalled by the new escalation triggered by Fritz Keller within the DFB and its regional and state associations. Fritz Keller, with the support of all delegates of the Bavarian Football Association, took up the position of DFB President at the last Bundestag, in order to lead the association into calmer waters as an "educator" and impartially - above all for the benefit of amateur football, "it said the message.

"With such behavior, which crosses any boundaries and cannot be tolerated, he does not meet his own claims, on the contrary: Fritz Keller disqualifies himself, he continues to deepen the rifts and practice polarization," it said.

With the "intolerable statement" to the first representative of Bavarian amateur football, Keller bears sole responsibility for leaving the factual and constructive level in the dispute within the DFB that has been prevalent since the beginning of his presidency.

According to media reports, Keller had compared his vice president with Nazi judge Roland Freisler.

Freisler, who died in 1945, was a participant in the Wannsee Conference and was one of those responsible for organizing the Holocaust and later president of the notorious People's Court, where he sentenced around 2,600 people to death.

Including against the "White Rose" resistance group.
