Current Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann, 33, will coach Bayern Munich at the end of this season, replacing Hansi Flick who is stepping down, the Bavarian club announced on Tuesday.

"FC Bayern have signed Julian Nagelsmann, 33, as their new head coach. The Bavarian-born coach will leave RB Leipzig to join Munich at the start of the next season on July 1, 2021, and his contract with the German champion. 'Germany will run for five years, until June 30, 2026, "the" Rekordmeister "said in a statement.

The latter did not specify the amount of compensation paid by Bayern to Leipzig, but according to German media, the Bavarian club will pay an amount of up to 25 million euros, including bonuses, to attach his services while Nagelsmann's contract in Leipzig ran until 2023.

This sum makes the rising star of German football the most expensive coach in history, say the Sky television channel and the daily Bild, surpassing the record held so far by the Portuguese André Villas-Boas, who had left Porto. at Chelsea in 2011 for 15 million euros.

Nagelsmann will succeed the current Bavarian technician Hansi Flick, author of a historic sextuplet last season but who, in cold with his sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, asked to terminate his contract at Bayern a few weeks ago.

Flick, who has been at Bayern since November 2019, is a big favorite to succeed Joachim Löw at the head of the German team, a position which will be vacant after the Euro in June.

With the signing of Nagelsmann, Bayern made a big blow by securing the services of a gifted who became the youngest semi-finalist coach of the Champions League at 33, with Leipzig last year.

A native of Bavaria, it is a dream come true for him: he has never hidden that coaching Bayern is one of his goals.

However, the pressure on his shoulders will be immense: in addition to assuming the label of "most expensive trainer in the world", he arrives in a team made to win or to win the title of champion - the 9th in a row being practically in the pocket. - appears to be normal.

Nagelsman will especially have to shine on the European scene by making forget the early elimination in the quarterfinals of the Champions League against Paris SG this year.
