Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - The German Football Association will be in talks with Hansi Flick and FC Bayern about new national coaches, the DFB announced on dpa request.

“It is well known that Hansi Flick is held in high regard by the DFB and is an excellent candidate as a national coach.

We can confirm that, against this background, we will now hold talks with Hansi Flick and those responsible at FC Bayern, ”said the association.

This means that things can happen very quickly when it comes to national coaches.

With the contract termination at FC Bayern, the preferred candidate to succeed Joachim Löw is free to return to the DFB.

The Bayern head coach Flick, who is leaving Munich at the end of the season, is considered the designated successor to Löw.

He finished his work for the German national team after the European Football Championship in the summer.

"We ask for your understanding that we are currently not going to comment on the further procedure, which we initially coordinate with all parties involved with all due care and calm," said the DFB's announcement to the German press agency.

National team director Oliver Bierhoff had previously ruled out active discussions as long as Flick was in an ongoing contractual relationship.

That has now changed, the contract with Flick will be terminated on June 30, as FC Bayern announced on Tuesday.

Julian Nagelsmann, who comes from RB Leipzig to the German record champions, will take over the Flick post in Munich.
