Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Production in the North Rhine-Westphalian construction industry decreased in February 2021.

Compared to February 2020, it was 7.4 percent lower, as the State Statistical Office (IT.NRW) announced on Tuesday.

In building construction, production collapsed by 7.5 percent, in civil engineering the decline was 7.2 percent lower than in February 2020.

For the building construction sector, the statisticians determined consistently declining developments in the individual sectors in February 2021: The sharpest decline was in public building construction (−20.9 percent), followed by commercial and industrial building construction (−9.9 percent) and the Residential construction (−2.9 percent).

The individual areas of civil engineering developed differently: In road construction, production fell by as much as 16.3 percent.

In commercial and industrial civil engineering, it was 7.4 percent below the results of February 2020. For other public civil engineering, on the other hand, statisticians recorded a slight increase in construction output of two percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
