Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann is considering tightening the federal emergency brake due to the sharp rise in corona numbers.

He must check “that we may have to tighten the emergency brake measures,” said the Green Prime Minister on Tuesday in Stuttgart.

The so-called seven-day incidence nationwide was recently just below 200. "We are still fully in the corona crisis," said Kretschmann.

He hopes that the pandemic will get the upper hand in the summer.

The Green politician did not say what measures he might want to tighten.

It would be conceivable to lower the limit for school closings even further from 165 or to let the exit restrictions begin earlier.

The federal emergency brake has only been in effect since the weekend: As soon as the seven-day incidence - i.e. the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week - is over 100 for three days in a row, exit restrictions currently apply from the day after the next from 10 p.m. to 10 p.m. 5.00 a.m.

Jogging is allowed until midnight if you are alone.

Stopping face-to-face classes with a seven-day incidence of 165 or more and stricter regulations for businesses are also intended to curb new infections.

Meetings are still possible with members of your own household and another person not belonging to the household.

Children of the two households up to and including 13 years of age are not counted.
