The World Health Organization has warned against rushing to reach conclusions about the new Indian strain of Coronavirus, saying it has not yet classified it as a concern.

A WHO spokeswoman said it was unclear at this point how far the new strain was responsible for the rapid increase in infections in India in recent months.

She added that there are many factors that can contribute to this.

For example, festivals and other events attended by many, which may have led to a rapid rate of infection.

The British strain of Coronavirus may be a relevant factor in the Indian epidemiological situation.

In India, 350,000 injuries were recorded within twenty-four hours, Monday, which is higher than any other country recorded in the same period.

India, with a population of 1.3 billion, has recorded a total of more than 17 million infections.

The World Health Organization has classified the British, South African and Brazilian strains of Covid-19 as "strains of concern".

According to the World Health Organization, a strain is considered a concern if the virus spreads easily and causes serious infections from the disease, as it bypasses the immune system and reduces the effectiveness of known treatment methods.
