Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Hamburg's mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) has warned against a careless lifting of the corona restrictions for vaccinated and convalescent people. He is also critical of the timing of the cancellation of the vaccination prioritization. The federal government is currently drafting an ordinance, "which is based on the idea that restrictions on fundamental rights are lifted as early as possible," he said on Monday evening after discussions with the other state heads of government and the chancellor. In addition to a vaccination offer for everyone, the pandemic situation must always be taken into account.

It is true that there is an assessment that vaccinated and convalescent people pose a "very low risk".

"Not no risk at all," he emphasized.

It must also be borne in mind that “the accumulation of residual risks”, for example through new virus variants, could again lead to a significant risk.

In addition to lifting the restrictions on basic rights for vaccinated and convalescents, the basic right to the physical integrity of others should also be observed.

After the Bundestag, the federal regulation must also be approved by the Bundesrat, said Tschentscher.

The process will take several weeks.

The mayor was pleased that as vaccine deliveries grew, so did vaccination of the population.

The Chancellor therefore spoke out in favor of lifting the prioritization of those eligible for vaccination by June at the latest.

This could only happen if enough vaccine was available for everyone, said Tschentscher.

"From my point of view, the principle remains (...) If things stall again, if deliveries fail, it will take a little longer."

Unlike previous Prime Minister's Conferences on the Corona situation, the federal-state switching conference was a good exchange of views.

"It was more of a meeting," said Tschentscher.

"There were no major decisions now."
