Duisburg (dpa / lnw) - From today on, a so-called spiritual leader has to answer to court in Duisburg.
The accused is said to have brutally abused, locked up and sexually abused members of an esoteric center he founded in Wesel, Lower Rhine.
The indictment speaks of beatings and kicks, but also of torture-like acts with a bunsen burner.
The alleged acts of the 58-year-old Dutchman are said to have happened between 2016 and 2020 under the guise of life counseling and therapy.
He was arrested in August 2020 after several complaints.
