Torgelow (dpa / mv) - The insolvent iron foundry Torgelow (Vorpommern-Greifswald district) has future prospects again.

The creditors' meeting on Monday approved the continuation of the company and the continuation of the restructuring under self-administration, as the company announced.

The self-administration procedure began in July 2020.

According to the information, the district court Neubrandenburg opened the insolvency proceedings at the beginning of the month and confirmed the self-administration sought by the company.

In this way, the management controls the restructuring itself and can continue the successful restructuring course.

New customers have been won and existing customers have ordered new products.

"As a result, the short-time work that has already been registered as a precaution becomes noticeably less necessary," it said.

The wages and salaries would again be generated from ongoing business operations.

The necessary liquidity is secured for the foreseeable future.

According to the company, “viable solutions” are emerging in the search for investors.

The interested parties are investors from the industry and financial investors.

The iron foundry expects to have binding offers in the coming weeks.

The foundry has a 250-year tradition and primarily produces components for wind turbines that weigh tons.

Cast parts for large diesel engines, machine, container and plant construction also come from Torgelow.

The company has around 270 foundry employees.

The company cited reluctance to undertake wind farm projects and other problems in the wake of the corona pandemic as reasons for the bankruptcy.
