Freiburg (dpa / lsw) - In the process of an attempted murder with rat poison in frozen vegetables in the Freiburg prison, the regional court wants to give the verdict today (from 11.00 a.m.).

The prosecution accuses two men of trying to kill a fellow inmate.

All three were reportedly temporarily housed in the department for preventive detainees.

The two defendants are said to have agreed in March of last year to kill their fellow prisoners because of quarrels. One of the two had taken parts of the poison bait from a rat trap in the courtyard and mixed it into the frozen vegetables. The inmate wanted to prepare this on April 12, 2020. But because he noticed a crack in the packaging, he refrained from the project. During an investigation, the poison in the vegetables was noticed.

The two defendants had denied the allegation according to court information at the start of the trial.

The 36 and 37-year-old Germans only admitted to having injured said fellow inmate on another occasion.

According to the public prosecutor's office, it is about the fact that the duo "mistreated their fellow prisoners with fists and kicks".

Correctional officers helped him.

The 37-year-old is said to have distracted the guards while the 36-year-old punched a fourth man in the face in the neighboring cell.
