Meiningen (dpa / th) - A 44-year-old man died in an accident on federal highway 19 between Meiningen and Breitungen (Schmalkalden - Meiningen district).
As the police announced, a car came into the opposite lane early on Monday morning for reasons that were previously unknown, hit the side of an oncoming car and finally drove head-on into the 44-year-old's vehicle.
He died in hospital despite intensive medical treatment.
The 48-year-old who caused the accident and the 41-year-old driver of the side-rammed car were slightly injured.
An expert should now reconstruct the course of the accident.
The route was closed for several hours.
