April 26, 2021 After days and days of pandemic closure, the theaters finally reopen, La Scala will also reopen to the public on May 11 with the concert of the Wiener Philharmoniker directed by

But the pandemic is not over yet and the public will only be able to participate in the event from the boxes and only 500 spectators out of the 2,030 seats actually available in the theater. The Mayor of Milan

The Teatro alla Scala Foundation purchased the building in via Verdi 3 from the San Paolo Institute in Turin in 1997. It was dug 18 meters below the ground and will reach the height of the scenic tower itself, about 38 meters outside. land. Overall, there will be six underground floors and eleven above ground floors. The underground floors will largely be occupied by a single space, the rehearsal room for the orchestra suitable for recordings. The size and height of the hall were conceived from the acoustic point of view with the advice of the acoustic designer

Yasuhisa Toyota

.

The stage will instead become deeper, reaching 70 meters. In the remainder, offices will be built for the Ballet Direction, Scenic Set-up Direction and Technical Direction allowing to free up the spaces currently occupied in the Theater, to create new offices for the Administrative Direction and the Personnel Direction, currently located in a leased building, and for the Cultural Promotion Service.

"My commitment to Milan, in this last year so shocking, has been important, on all fronts and I certainly could not neglect the cultural sector, hit hard in every aspect", explained the Italian designer the reason for his support.

"The arts - says Giorgio Armani - are always overshadowed in difficult moments because they do not immediately appear vital and necessary. And yet they are.
