Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called a new security ministerial meeting to discuss the tension on the Gaza border, and Israeli officials threatened a military response to the rocket fire, which is the pretext that the occupation used again to impose a complete naval blockade on the Strip.

Netanyahu called the cabinet members for an urgent meeting this afternoon, and sources suggested that he would discuss the tension on the Gaza Strip front.

On Saturday, Netanyahu held a consultative meeting with the security services and the army, after which he announced that he had directed the army to remain on standby to deal with every emergency, saying that all scenarios must be prepared.

Before the second cabinet meeting of its kind within 3 days, military officials threatened to respond militarily to the rocket fire from Gaza, at a time when Israel held the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) responsible for the tension on the border with the Gaza Strip.

The occupation army said that two other rockets were fired this morning from Gaza at Sderiot settlement, and that the Iron Dome system intercepted them.

In recent days, Palestinian factions launched several rockets and missiles from the Gaza Strip, as an expression of their solidarity with the Palestinians who are exposed to Israeli attacks in occupied Jerusalem.

Massive military strike

Regarding a possible military escalation, the Hebrew website "Walla" said that the Israeli government had warned Hamas that it would respond with a massive military strike if rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip.

The website added, quoting Israeli sources, that Israel conveyed the message to the movement through the United Nations envoy to the Middle East peace process, Tor Winsland.

And he added, "Israel's message to Hamas is that at the present time Israel still maintains understandings with Hamas about Gaza and is ready to continue to maintain it, but if rockets continue to be fired, Israel will not restrain itself."

According to the Hebrew website, Israeli officials told the UN envoy that the closure of the fishing zone in Gaza beginning this morning was the last Israeli attempt to respond by non-military means to firing rockets from Gaza, saying that the next response would be of a military nature and would have dire consequences.

The closure of the Gaza Sea

The Israeli army has completely closed the Gaza Sea to fishermen in the Strip until further notice, and justified this by the continued firing of rockets from the Gaza Strip into Israeli areas.

Earlier, the occupation army decided to reduce the fishing distance in Gaza.

Hamas condemned the decision, and its spokesman, Abd al-Latif al-Qanoo ', described it as a flagrant violation of the rights of Palestinian fishermen, and a form of continuous aggression against the Palestinian people.

In turn, Zakaria Bakr, official of the Fishermen's Union Committees in the Gaza Strip, confirmed the closure of the Gaza Sea to fishermen, describing the move as collective punishment.

Last September, the occupation reopened the permitted fishing zone off the coast of Gaza for a 15-mile area, after an agreement with Hamas.

Jerusalem events

Yesterday evening, Bab al-Amoud Square in occupied Jerusalem witnessed night celebrations following the removal of iron barriers erected by the Israeli occupation forces since the beginning of the month of Ramadan.

And the Palestinian youths considered the removal of the checkpoints that had been set up to prevent them from reaching the square, a victory for the swift they had made during the past few days.

In the context, the Foreign Ministers of Egypt and Jordan warned of the danger of escalating attacks and provocative actions against Jerusalemites, and stressed the need to stop the violations that target the Arab, Islamic and Christian identity of Jerusalem and its sanctities and to change the historical and legal status existing in it, according to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

The statement said that Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed, in a phone call, with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, the situation in Jerusalem, and stressed the need for Israel to assume its responsibilities in accordance with international law, and to provide protection for the Palestinians.

The two ministers condemned the acts of violence and incitement carried out by extremist groups against Palestinians in the Old City of East Jerusalem.

And they demanded that Israel stop it immediately.

They stressed the importance of the international community taking effective action to break the deadlock in the peace process efforts and return to serious and effective negotiations to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
