Berlin (dpa / bb) - New film projects in the region are being supported with around 5.1 million euros.

For the first time, more than half of the projects funded came from women, the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg announced on Monday.

This includes two new series that tell Berlin stories - “KaDeWe” by director Julia von Heinz (“And tomorrow the whole world”) and “Torstrasse 1” about the 1920s by Sherry Hormann (“Altes Land”).

Funding is also available for the new film by Fatih Akin - “Rheingold” is supposed to portray the rapper Xatar - and for the literary film adaptation “Die Mittagsfrau” by Barbara Albert.

The Medienboard is the joint film funding agency of Berlin and Brandenburg.
